Richfield Fire Department

Continuing the Tradition

The Richfield Volunteer Fire Company ceased operations on December 31, 2024. We are now the Richfield Fire Department, a municipal fire department of the Village of Richfield. We continue to provide fire and EMS coverage for the Village of Richfield and portions of the Town of Erin.

Some pages in our website are not yet updated with our new name. Our website will soon be hosted by the Village, and these pages will be corrected as part of that conversion.

Call for Members

The Richfield Fire Department needs more staff, specifically Paid-per-Call and Part-Time members, to continue fulfilling our mission.

Paid-per-Call members are citizens that may serve their community as a Paid-per-Call EMT, firefighter, or both. No previous EMS or firefighting experience is needed to join, and training to obtain initial state certifications is provided with no cost to the member via courses at local technical colleges. Upon successful completion of the probationary period, Paid-per-Call members are paid hourly while on a call. There are many options available to members to specialize in further training such as vehicle extrication, rescue and recovery dive, hazardous materials, fire inspections, etc.; as well as attend additional state certification courses. Paid-per-Call members must live within the service area we cover, or within 2 miles from the borders. If you are interested in becoming a Paid-per-Call member, please stop by Station 1 on Hubertus Road or give us a call at (262)628-1601 to discuss joining our team!

Part-Time employees are those who work shifts from 8am-6pm Monday through Friday. Requirements for part-time employees include EMT-Basic and Firefighter 1, with additional certifications preferred. These employees submit their availability monthly, and there is flexibility in scheduling shifts around full-time employment and school, making it a great option for those with existing commitments.

We also welcome other skills where joining as an Associate member may be the right fit for you. These community members have a passion to help others, but may not have the ability to serve in an active fire or EMS role. For example, some of these skills may include advertising, event planning, grant writing, recruitment, accounting, business management, vehicle maintenance, etc.

Mission Statement:

The Richfield Fire Department is dedicated to protecting life and property by providing the community with fire safety, safety education, and fire prevention programs, and providing the mitigation of fire, medical, and related emergencies with professionally trained personnel, using teamwork and the resources provided by the community.

The goal of the Richfield Fire Department is to minimize loss of life and property for the Village of Richfield and other contracted sections, from fires, natural disasters, life-threatening situations and to assist other emergency agencies.

The objective of the Richfield Fire Department is to perform these services in an efficient manner by maintaining effective fire prevention, emergency response, fire suppression and training.
